Hans Lindström
I met up with Hans tonight, and we went out for drinks at a very posh bar near my hotel. He was kind enough to pay for both our drinks. At that point, I gave him the two small gifts I got for him from Canada (a small wooden bookmark and a small package of chocolate maple candy). The bar was on the 25th floor of the building, so we had an exquisite view of the city: Gamla Stan, Östermalm, Södermalm, Djurgården... It was a great view, even if it was overcast and a bit rainy. At 10:00 p.m. tonight, despite the heavy clouds, it was still bright outside. Hans says that I will notice it more when it isn`t cloudy. He is off tomorrow as well, so after my complimentary breakfast buffet, he will come directly to the hotel at 11:00 so that we can maybe go to Skansen, the huge outdoor museum on Djurgården. We will also try going to the bookstore, Akademibokhandeln, because Hans thinks I can get a copy of the ABBA Guide to Stockholm book there.
The computer here is a little lousy. They seem to have dial-up, which takes forever, and I am unable to hook up the camera to the computer to add pictures to my blog. Since I`m complaining, I should also point out the weird arrangement with power in my room. The key to my room is a card that I wave in front of a sensor in front of my door to gain entry. There is no power in my room until I deposit this card in a little box beside the door. Then I have lights. It is more than a little weird and surprisingly annoying.
It might rain again tomorrow, but if I`m indoors, I won`t mind. In Reykjavik this morning, it was a chilly 5 degrees Celsius. Here in Stockholm, we hit a rainy high of 13 degrees. I am not complaining, because at least it is a reprieve from the humidity and sweltering heat we know in Ottawa!
Anyway, I`m off to bed.
Good night!
